Edith Flowers Kilgo, a slightly creaky--and occasionally cranky--Baby Boomer, gardens, reminisces, and observes nature and life in her Locust Grove, GA garden, aided by husband Randal and an occasional cat, bird or wild creature. In the process of creating a new garden from scratch, she is learning to deal with life changes and losses. Knowing that health issues may make this her last garden gives her a bittersweet appreciation for it.

Welcome to The Goodbye Garden blog. My name is Edith Flowers Kilgo. You may remember me from my newsletter Creative Downscaling (formerly Simple Living News) or my Letters From Home column or from some of the books or magazine articles I've written.
I wrote the books Money in the Cookie Jar and Money Management and also wrote chapters that are included in the books The Simple Life, Writing to Inspire Writer's Market, Encyclopedia for Today's Christian Woman and Larry Roth's Beating the System.
More than 400 of my articles have been published in magazines that include: Good Housekeeping, Family Circle, McCalls, Woman's Day, The Mother Earth News, Prevention and numerous other national magazines.
